Ian Rutledge
Hey! My name is Ian Rutledge, and I just finished my Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Victoria. Born and raised amidst the breathtaking landscapes of North Vancouver Island, I’ve always felt a deep connection to nature and the world around me. This connection has shaped my passion for photography and videography, where I strive to capture more than just images — I aim to tell stories and bring to life the unique visions of my clients.
Whether it’s an intimate portrait session, documenting an unforgettable event, or crafting cinematic visuals that evoke emotion, I bring energy, creativity, and dedication to every project. I’m constantly seeking new adventures, and my love for travel has taken me to incredible places, where I’ve had the opportunity to explore diverse cultures and breathtaking scenery (such as living in Sweden for 7 months). These experiences fuel my artistic inspiration, allowing me to create content that is not only visually striking but deeply meaningful.
For me, photography and video are about more than just freezing moments in time — they are a way to share perspectives, inspire connection, and celebrate the beauty of the world. I believe in the power of collaboration and love working with people to turn their ideas into a reality that exceeds their expectations.
Working with me
When we work together, my focus is entirely on bringing your vision to life. It’s important to me that the style, music, feel, and overall vibe of the photos or videos reflect exactly what you’ve imagined. To make sure we’re completely aligned, I take the time to connect with you through Zoom or in person 2-3 times before the shoot. This allows us to fine-tune every detail, so by the time the camera starts rolling, we’re both on the same page about the mood, aesthetic, and energy we want to capture.
During the shoot, my approach is tailored to your preference: I can either blend into the background, capturing moments as they naturally unfold, or get fully immersed in the project, interacting and guiding where needed. Once the magic is captured and I’ve finished editing, I offer two rounds of free revisions to ensure the final product is exactly how you envisioned it. Your satisfaction is my top priority, and I’m committed to delivering results that exceed your expectations.
